Gannett thinks local for new mobile sites
News and information giant Gannett announced the launch of more than 100 local mobile sites promising real-time breaking news, sports, weather and related content produced by local Gannett Information Centers. The free sites--mobile versions of Gannett's 84 community daily newspapers, 19 broadcast market websites and USA Today--are supported by local, regional and national display advertising. Consumers may access local content directly by entering the letter "m" before a Gannett site URL, by sending an unique market short-code keyword promoted in print, online and broadcast advertisements or via links on all Gannett newspaper and broadcast websites.
"Local news and information is more in demand than ever by consumers across the country. Making it easily available by mobile device takes Gannett's local information expertise and puts it in consumers' hands," said Jack Williams, Gannett Digital president. "Advertisers who appreciate the value of trusted brands, local content and audiences will be able to reach out to those consumers throughout the day."
