Geodelic finds $7 million in Series B
Location-based mobile solutions developer Geodelic closed a $7 million Series B financing round led by MK Capital, with previous
investors Clearstone Ventures Partners and Shasta Ventures also contributing. Formerly dubbed Sherpa, the free Geodelic application (profiled by sister publication FierceDeveloper here) learns a subscriber's favorite types of locations and preferences over time, promising an increasingly customized user experience that recommends relevant retailers, restaurants and attractions according to one's likes, dislikes and behavioral patterns. Geodelic founder and CEO Rahul Sonnad previously launched digital video web services company thePlatform, acquired by Comcast in 2006.
Geodelic is presently available for download via Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market--a version optimized for Research In Motion's BlackBerry platform is currently in development. The firm said it expects to announce additional product features and new partnerships spanning the advertising, entertainment and wireless technology industries over the next few months.
