Getfugu names Warner Bros. vet Solomon CEO

Tools

Mobile search platform provider Getfugu announced that current board chairman Michael Jay Solomon will assume the firm's chief executive officer post. Getfugu president Carl Freer cited Solomon's experience in the entertainment industry as a catalyst behind the appointment: Solomon served as president of Warner Bros. International Television from 1989 to 1994, and since that time has led television communications company Solomon Entertainment Enterprises. Solomon's résumé also includes stints with Lorimar Telepictures Corp., United Artists and MCA/Universal.

Late last year, Getfugu announced it will receive up to $10 million in funding via private placement transaction with institutional investor Hutton International Investments. Getfugu's "See It, Say It, Get It" platform-agnostic mobile search service promises to integrate core mobile functions like image, voice and location recognition into a single customizable application. The firm also offers mobile e-commerce tools.
