GetJar Gold adds Gameloft's 'Asphalt 6'

Cross-platform app store GetJar continues to build out its Gold free applications program with the addition of Gameloft's racing title Asphalt 6.

Gamers can discover 42 different cars and bikes and race across Los Angeles, Tokyo and the Bahamas.

Launched in September 2011, GetJar Gold touts full-featured editions of premium Android apps available as free downloads. GetJar relies on the Gold program to fuel both app installations and customer traffic, stating that free applications are downloaded between 10 and 20 times more often than paid apps. GetJar now offers more than 100 free Gold apps collectively valued in excess of $250--in all, the store gives away up to $300,000 worth of apps each day.

Asphalt 6 is the first Gameloft release available on GetJar. Gamers can discover 42 different cars and bikes from manufacturers including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Ducati, racing opponents through the streets of Los Angeles, Tokyo and the Bahamas.

GetJar now distributes more than 350,000 Android apps, with downloads topping 2 billion. All titles across the GetJar platform are free; the company pays developers on a per-install basis, with GetJar itself generating revenue by offering sponsored listings.
