Give the people what they want

A long week at CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment 2007 is now in the books. Whether you were there or reading the news in absentia, chances are you've already drawn some conclusions about the present state of the mobile industry. But what about subscribers--what do they think? While waiting in San Francisco International Airport for my flight out, I conducted an informal and totally unscientific poll to take the temperature of the mobile consumer population. The findings may surprise you.
- Twenty-eight percent of respondents express frustration that mobile search services don't actually help them find misplaced handsets.
- Sixty-seven percent of respondents wish their mobile TV services included channels dedicated to nothing but reruns of Mama's Family.
- Twenty-one percent of iPhone owners admit to "inappropriate touching."Â Â
- Four percent of respondents wish that wallpaper libraries included more photos of Bea Arthur. Â
- Forty-eight percent of respondents would like more country music ringtones, but only 34 percent would like more western music ringtones.
- Seventy-seven percent of respondents wish their handsets emanated the aroma of crisp, delicious bacon. Â
- Fifty-three percent of respondents believe the Verizon Wireless technicians depicted in the operator's "It's the Network" ad campaign are in reality members of a suicide cult.
- One hundred percent of Amish respondents believe camera phone photos steal your soul.  Â
- Zero percent of respondents believe everything they read in FierceMobileContent. - Jason
