Gomez debuts mobile web testing solution
Web application experience management services provider Gomez announced the launch of a new solution enabling developers and IT operations teams to automatically test how their mobile websites render on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile smartphones. According to Gomez, the performance testing and monitoring solution is completely automated, self-service and on-demand--after developers enter a starting URL and select which smartphones to test, the service crawls through the entire mobile site and returns a series of screen captures showing how each page appears on a given smartphone screen. The process enables developers to more efficiently pinpoint and correct content rendering issues like missing or misplaced graphics, buttons and text, and also reduces the demand for in-house testing labs. Gomez adds that the solution also checks how traditional web applications appear and function in more than 500 combinations of browsers, operating systems and screen sizes.
