Google again Opera's mobile search du jour

Tools

Mobile browser developer Opera Software announced Google is once again the default search engine in its Opera Mobile and Opera Mini browsers, a year after dumping the search giant's service in favor of rival Yahoo's oneSearch. According to Opera, the new deal begins March 1 and spans all global territories except Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Google has remained the default search option on Opera's desktop browser for the past seven years: "Google and Opera have established a valuable relationship over the years and we look forward to continued collaboration on mobile products," said Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner in a prepared statement. "With 2008 poised to be the year the mobile web goes mainstream, Google and Opera are extending this collaboration to give our users immediate access to the quality and convenience of Google's search results."
