Google Earth lands on iPhone

Google released a version of its Google Earth mapping and travel application optimized for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch devices. Available now via Apple's App Store, the service promises the same global imagery and 3D terrain features found on Google Earth's original web incarnation, complete with over 8 million Panoramio geo-located photos and related Wikipedia articles. In addition to Google Local Search functions enabling queries according to cities, places and businesses, the mobile version of Google Earth capitalizes on the iPhone's accelerometer to allow users to tilt the device and view mountainous terrain. Google Earth for iPhone and iPod touch spans 22 countries and 18 languages.
