Google expands Maps for Mobile application

Tools

Google announced the release of version 2.2 of its free Google Maps for Mobile with Transit directions application, which expands the app beyond the BlackBerry platform to Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile-based smartphones. According to Google, the application promises users public transportation alternatives that route them car-free to their destination--the service spans 50 cities across the globe, with other locales to follow.

New features introduced with the addition of WinMo and S60 support include star ratings for nearby businesses, faster search results and user-generated content.
