Google, Facebook dominate Opera Mini mobile web traffic in 2011
Google.com (NASDAQ:GOOG) was the most popular mobile website of 2011 among Opera Mini browser users, beating out Facebook for the second consecutive year, browser company Opera Software reports.
Search and social networking dominate Opera Mini's top 10 for 2011, with YouTube rising one spot over 2010 to number three, followed in descending order by Russian social giants Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki. Russian search kingpin Yandex and Yahoo also make the list, which for the first time includes collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia at number seven (up four spots over 2010) and microblogging platform Twitter at number 10 (up two spots from last year).
Opera Mini users worldwide now exceed 144.6 million, up 3.3 percent month-over-month and 247 percent year-over-year. The number of pages viewed on Opera Mini has nearly doubled over the last year, surging 98.2 percent since November 2010 to surpass 88.5 billion.
