Google Finance expands to Android and iPhone

Tools

Google launched new Android and iPhone editions of its Google Finance for mobile solution, promising users on-the-go access to their financial data, charts and reports. Highlighted by user portfolios, real-time quotes and market news, the redesigned Google Finance for mobile site delivers a unified experience across the desktop and smartphone, offering virtually identical features and functionality across both platforms. "You can easily access the new site when you do a Google search for stock tickers or company names on your mobile device, or when you tap the 'Finance' tab on the Google mobile homepage," explains Google product manager Brian Shih on the Official Google Mobile Blog, adding that Android users can also download the free Google Finance app via Android Market.

Google Finance rolled out in March 2006, touting business and enterprise headlines alongside Flash-based stock price charts. In June 2008, Google partnered with NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange, heralding the addition of real-time ticker updates.
