Gowalla adds USA Today travel content
Location-based social networking service Gowalla announced the addition of content and features from news daily USA Today, promising travelers timely and relevant information tied to their trips. Gowalla users who check in at major U.S. airports will be presented with a host of USA Today features including content from "Today in the Sky," an online air travel community; Travel Guides with tips on cheap airport parking, recommendations to accelerate the security check-in process, dining and shopping options and real-time flight updates; and Trips spotlights (curated by USA Today editors and reporters) with critiques of tourist destinations across the nation.
One of a growing wave of location-centric social networking services alongside Foursquare, Loopt and Brightkite, Gowalla promises rewards for users who "check in" at participating establishments. Travelers who visit all recommended Trips sites will receive a USA Today Jet Setter Pin for their Gowalla Passport.
