GQ on iPhone mirroring consumer engagement in print

Tools

Publishing giant Conde Nast announced iPhone and iPod touch readers have downloaded the January issue of men's magazine GQ from Apple's App Store more than 12,000 times--in addition, the company notes that consumer engagement metrics like average time spent, number of reading days and satisfaction are on par with measurements for the traditional print magazine. GQ first expanded onto the iPhone platform with its December 2009 issue, which was downloaded 6,641 times (with each download counting towards the total circulation of the publication).

GQ's February issue app went live on Jan. 19. While the single issue app price will remain at $2.99, repeat customers can download the app for $1.99 starting with the March issue--Conde Nast adds it is mulling subscription offerings as well. The publisher said it is developing more content for the iPhone along with Apple's anticipated tablet device.
