Rockstar Games is commemorating the tenth anniversary of its landmark Grand Theft Auto III by issuing a new mobile edition on Dec. 15. Optimized for selected smartphones and tablets running Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS and Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android, Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition is priced at $4.99. Initially released in October 2001 for the PlayStation 2 platform, Grand Theft Auto III--the first 3D title in the series--combined elements of third-person shooters and driving games with a plot rooted in Hollywood crime films to emerge as the year's top-selling video game.
