Gravity Mobile's MusicID app goes global
Sony-owned content and data solutions provider Gracenote's Gravity Mobile unit announced its MusicID application for iPhone has been released in 90 countries, with language support for Japanese, French, German and Spanish. Introduced in the U.S. in mid-2009, MusicID promises a comprehensive music discovery guide enabling consumers to identify music, search lyrics and view artist biographies as well as purchase songs via iTunes. Users can search MusicID by inputting the artist or track name, lyrics or holding their mobile device to a nearby audio source--from there, Gravity Mobile supplies recommendations and links directly into the iTunes catalog, also delivering related content and information including YouTube video clips.
MusicID leverages Gracenote's Global Media Database spanning more than 100 million tracks--Gracenote powers services including iTunes, Yahoo Music Jukebox and Winamp, along with mobile music applications from Samsung, Sony Ericsson, KDDI, KTF and Musiwave. Last year, Gravity Mobile extended MusicID to more than 50 AT&T handsets, integrating direct links with the operator's AT&T MEdia Mall as well as Napster Mobile.
