Greystripe debuts iFlash ad units for Apple's iPad
Mobile advertising network Greystripe announced the launch of new ad units enabling advertisers to port their existing Flash-based creatives to Apple's forthcoming iPad tablet device. The iFlash units transcode Internet Architecture Bureau-standard ads created on Adobe Systems' Flash multimedia platform to run on the iPad as well as the iPhone--Apple's iPhone operating system does not support Flash, reportedly because Apple CEO Steve Jobs believes the technology is too buggy and contends it is the culprit behind most Mac crashes.
Greystripe's existing iFlash brand partners include HP, Burger King, Axe, Dunlop and LeapFrog--the firm adds that running the same creatives across multiple platforms allows advertisers to directly compare campaign results, noting that brands experience higher performance with mobile iFlash ads compared to the same online campaigns, with average click-through rates well above 1 percent.
