Greystripe reports ad-funded game statistics
Mobile games and applications distribution platform Greystripe reports that 75 percent of its ad-funded iPhone game players access the mobile web at least once a day and 66 percent surf the mobile web more than once daily. Based on data collected via Greystripe's internal user database, the firm's October 2008 Consumer Insights Report notes its iPhone titles are the most popular among the coveted 18-to-34-year-old demographic, with 48 percent of users falling into that category--within this group, 80 percent attended college and 46 percent earn more than $78,000 per year. In all, iPhone users now represent 10.7 percent of all Greystripe gamers, followed by the Samsung SGH-E250 at 6.2 percent.
According to Greystripe, users have now downloaded 100 million games since the firm launched in 2006, with a worldwide 9.1 percent click-through rate. Puzzle games remain the most popular in the U.S., capturing 27 percent of the market, followed by arcade, one-thumb, action and mobile-pets titles. From an international perspective, action games are the most popular among 17 percent of users, followed by puzzle, adventure, arcade and one-thumb.
