"Halo" effect: In-Fusio sues Microsoft
French mobile entertainment developer In-Fusio is suing Microsoft, alleging the software giant is wrongfully seeking termination of a $2 million deal to deliver wallpapers and ringtones inspired by the game "Halo." In-Fusio contends the deal was to culminate in a full-fledged "Halo" mobile game but that Microsoft has refused to approve its game designs, forcing the developer to withhold the second of four $500,000 payments. In response, Microsoft cited the non-payment as grounds to end the agreement.
In the lawsuit, which seeks damages and an injunction against Microsoft, In-Fusio alleges "Microsoft has thwarted In-Fusio's efforts to develop Halo under the agreement…Indeed, in the last 11 months, Microsoft has approved no fully developed In-Fusio game designs; ignoring and then refusing to accept In-Fusio's game design concepts with little or no explanation and leaving In-Fusio little basis to revise its concepts to obtain Microsoft's approval."
