Handango grabs $9.5 million in Series C financing

Smartphone content provider Handango announced the completion of a $9.5 million Series C financing round led by Institutional Venture Partners, Advanced Technology Ventures, Centerpoint, Neo Carta, Pharos Capital Group and SSM Partners. According to Handango, the funding is earmarked to support the company's new distribution deals, improve the scalability of its infrastructure and expand its business globally. Handango added it plans to explore solutions enabling users to more easily browse, find and purchase smartphone content both online and directly via device. Handango now offers smartphone content from 16,000 mobile developers and boasts partnerships with Research In Motion, HP, Microsoft, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and AOL.
