Handmark debuts updated Pocket Express
Mobile media solutions provider Handmark announced a new European version of its Pocket Express mobile news and information service, featuring a full on-device application store as well as support for local content in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Finnish and Swedish. Combining headlines, information and entertainment services into one application, Pocket Express spans more than 300 customizable news categories, up-to-the-minute sports scores and statistics, worldwide weather and ski forecasts, international stock updates, and airline schedules and status updates. Handmark content partners include the Associated Press, Agence France-Presse, AccuWeather.com and Dow Jones.
According to Handmark, the Pocket Express store features over-the-air games and application downloads from firms including Capcom, I-Play, Reset Games and Mobifusion. Additional features include MobileCierge, a premium click-to-call service promising a team of 24/7 mobile personal assistants who can answer virtually any personal, travel, medical or emergency-related request anywhere in the world. Handmark notes that the new European version of Pocket Express will initially be available on Java-based phones from Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung handsets, with additional releases expanding to additional operating systems and devices.
