Hasbro extends toy, game licenses to mobile

Toys, games and licensed products giant Hasbro announced plans to extend more than a dozen of its properties to the videogame arena, targeting multiple platforms including mobile. The deluge of Hasbro titles will begin in June with the release of Activision's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, based on the eagerly-unanticipated feature film. According to Hasbro, Glu Mobile will release a mobile edition of the title across multiple handsets, as well as a mini-application optimized for Apple's iPhone. In August, EA will also target mobile handsets as well as Xbox, Playstation and Wii users with a game inspired by the forthcoming big-screen effort G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. EA will also debut mobile titles based on Hasbro board-game perennials Yahtzee, Clue, The Game of Life and Cranium.

Hasbro also announced an extended licensing agreement with game accessories manufacturer Performance Design Products, noting that PDP will create a new line of Hasbro-branded video gaming accessories and products for the Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation, iPod and mobile phones. Licensed accessories will spotlight the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises as well as the Littlest Pet Shop and Nerf toy brands.
