Hathaway planning MVNO for healthcare industry
Communications development and acquisition firm Hathaway Corporation announced arguably the most specialized MVNO service to date: Its Diabetes Detection Inc. subsidiary will launch a virtual network providing applications and content targeted solely to the healthcare industry. Hathaway released few details on the DDI service, and has not yet announced network operator or handset maker partnerships. The service will tie directly to DDI's development of a vibrametric device for diagnosing diabetic neuropathy. "We believe the combination of DDI's vibrametric device with a healthcare-specific cellular network represents a paradigm shift in the way medical information is managed and disseminated within the healthcare industry," Hathaway's acting CEO Paul D. Lisenby said in a prepared statement.
