HBO premieres branded YouTube channel

Premium cable network Home Box Office and video aggregator site YouTube announced the launch of an HBO-branded YouTube channel featuring content from original series including Flight of the Conchords, Entourage, Extras and the greatest drama of all time, The Wire. HBO will also offer full-length episodes of its fledgling drama In Treatment as well as promotional clips from its HBO Films and HBO Documentary Films units. Exclusive YouTube content is also on tap. "We invest significantly in developing HBO programs and are always searching for new promotional platforms," said HBO director of digital distribution and partnerships Joseph Giraldi in a prepared statement. "We are thrilled to continue this tradition by offering the global YouTube audience access to our wide variety of content." In late January, YouTube announced plans to make its entire catalog of more than 200 million video clips available to all mobile users.
