HBO premieres free iPhone application

Premium cable giant HBO announced the introduction of a free iPhone and iPod touch application promising users video clips, an interactive episode guide and more. According to HBO, the app--developed by Atimi Software--includes episode guides and short-form videos spanning the network's original programming slate, including movies, series, documentaries and sports. Highlights include behind-the-scenes features and cast photos. Users also can view the complete HBO schedule (including High Definition, HBO On Demand and Multiplex Channels content) based on their actual geographic location, and set up alerts for upcoming broadcasts. In addition, the HBO App allows consumers to purchase full-length episodes via Apple's iTunes digital storefront and share information on Facebook and Twitter.
