Home Box Office expands Cinemax to mobile with MAX Go app
Following the success of its HBO GO streaming TV app, Time Warner-owned premium cable network Home Box Office will extend sister channel Cinemax to iOS and Android devices with MAX Go, available free to existing Cinemax subscribers through participating television providers Charter, Cox Advanced TV, Verizon (NYSE:VZ) FiOS, AT&T (NYSE:T) U-Verse, Suddenlink, DirecTV and DISH Network.

Launched in conjunction with the network's first original primetime series Strike Back, MAX Go--optimized for high-speed broadband connections--touts unlimited access to over 700 hours of programming including Hollywood hits, critical favorites and exclusive content. Cinemax will add new titles each week. Max Go also features Watchlist services enabling users to keep track of bookmarked content for subsequent viewing, customizable programming guide views and pause/rewind options.
MAX Go is restricted to users ages 17 and up. Content includes adult-themed programming including the Cinemax series Max After Dark. Some pundits are questioning whether Apple is fully aware of the mature content available via MAX Go given Apple CEO Steve Jobs' past proclamation that the company maintains a "moral responsibility" to keep questionable content off the iPhone platform.
HBO and Cinemax together reach approximately 85 million subscribers worldwide. Home Box Office rolled out HBO Go in May, racking up more than a million downloads in a matter of days.
