Hovr crafts ad-funded mobile game service
Mobile media company Hovr officially launched its free, ad-funded mobile games service following a two-month beta trial that reported more than 200,000 downloads in 100 international markets. According to Hovr, its gaming slate features in excess of 100 titles from 15 global content publishers, among them Robotube Games, Kiloo and Ozura; all titles feature embedded interactive advertisements courtesy of Hovr's AdLogic Platform--users must also a brief commercial before beginning gameplay. Users may also join Hovr MobileSpace, a social network service enabling player interaction and head-to-head competition.
"Our games can reach a vastly larger audience when they are downloadable for free," said Robotube founder Jason Cirillo in a prepared statement. "Typically game producers are paid per download, but Hovr is paying us based on usage. By earning mobile ad revenue each and every time our games are played, a popular game stands to earn its developer exponentially more money."
