HTC scoops up S3 Graphics to enhance mobile game visuals

HTC Corporation has agreed to acquire S3 Graphics from processing solutions firm VIA Technologies. HTC will pay $300 million; the deal is expected to close before the end of this year. S3 Graphics supplies visualization technologies used in mobile devices, PCs and game consoles. HTC expects to ship 50 million smartphones in 2011, up from a record 25 million a year ago. Release
