i-Mobilize launches Apple-approved content delivery system
Internet holding company Metatron's i-Mobilize subsidiary announced the introduction of a patent-pending mobile content delivery system promising to enhance the capacity and speed of application content deployment. According to i-Mobilize, the system enables the firm to package content like videos, movies, TV shows or ebooks up to 1,000 times faster than rival methods, making content downloads available anywhere via 3G or EDGE networks.
i-Mobilize adds that Apple has already approved the system for use across its iPhone and iPod touch platforms. The MCDS will initially be available on iTunes in a channel-based format--the first, spotlighting science-fiction films, will offer 10 features for 99 cents, with follow-ups scheduled to focus on westerns, comedies, dramas, classic TV shows and extreme sports. i-Mobilize says subsequent versions of the MCDS will allow access to as many as 1,000 titles each, supporting multiple payment options including ad-subsidized, subscription and pay-per-use.
