iPhone game maker Tapulous says revenues near $1M a month
Mobile software developer Tapulous, the firm behind the bestselling iPhone game series Tap Tap Revenge, says its sales are now approaching $1 million per month, offering evidence that at least some developers can earn a very handsome living via Apple's App Store. Tapulous tells Reuters that the 99-cent Tap Tap Revenge now tops the 20 million download benchmark, with more than 600 million total games played. While the company says it's profitable, it declined to offer exact sales data--in addition to premium downloads, Tapulous generates revenue via advertising and in-app music purchases. The developer has so far raised $2.8 million from investors including Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff and venture capital firm Khosla Ventures.
