iPhone hit 'Pocket God' expands to Android, Windows Phone 7
Mobile development studio Bolt Creative will extend its blockbuster iPhone title Pocket God to the Android and Windows Phone 7 operating systems in partnership with game publisher ngmoco.
Available now for Android, with the WP7 version scheduled to roll out in the imminent future, Pocket God first launched on Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store almost two years ago--the 99-cent casual game (which gives users the opportunity to rule their own remote island, complete with deity-like powers) has since remained a staple of the store's bestseller list, buoyed by more than 30 free updates introducing mini games and new islands. The game also spawned its own comic book series, published in association with Ape Entertainment.
Pocket God surpassed the 3 million App Store download mark in August 2010. A month later, Bolt Creative expanded the game to selected Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) phones through a publishing agreement with Capcom Mobile, launching across a host of BREW-based feature phones and 3G multimedia devices--Verizon subscribers can choose between a monthly subscription option priced at $2.99 or a one-time download for $6.99.
