iPhone users get MMS earlier than expected
Users across the U.S. are reporting that multimedia messaging services are now available on Apple's iPhone, more than a week before AT&T originally promised to turn on MMS capabilities. AT&T previously announced it would roll out MMS to iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users on Sept. 25, issuing a software update to facilitate the new MMS functionality. But according to PC World, MMS began appearing on some iPhones on Saturday--users who indicate that MMS is now available on their device are typically running iPhone OS 3.1 with carrier file 5.0.
According to PC World, iPhone users in Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas have reported that MMS is now available, with consumers in Idaho and southern Florida making similar claims--however, other consumers in the same locales contradict the reports. Still, microblogging juggernaut Twitter already boasts a webpage encouraging iPhone users to post their first MMS.
