iTunes tops 5 billion song downloads
Apple announced its iTunes digital music retail storefront has now sold more than 5 billion songs since the service was introduced in 2001. iTunes, which in early 2008 surpassed brick-and-mortar chain WalMart to become the largest music retailer in the U.S., now boasts a content catalog featuring more than 8 million songs.
