Jam to Jimi on Verizon

Verizon Wireless has snagged exclusive rights to Jimi Hendrix's music for ringtones and Ringback Tones through a deal with Universal Music Mobile. More than 60 Hendrix clips are now accessible for the first time on mobile. The reason legacy acts like Hendrix and others have to date not been available on mobile is because labels and others holding the rights to certain big-name acts are holding out for exclusive deals like this--and are asking for large up-front payments as a requirement. Expect similar deals going forward.
