Jamba, EMI launch DRM-free mobile music service

Tools

Mobile entertainment provider Jamba announced a partnership with record label EMI to launch Europe's first mobile music service free of digital rights management restrictions. All Jamba/Jamster portals in the EMEA region will feature the service. The DRM-free tracks will be delivered as both MP3 versions sent to PCs and compressed AAC+ files sent to the mobile. Jamba said its goal is offering all 1.5 million in its mobile catalog DRM-free: "This new development really allows us to take our music offering to the next level," said COO Lee Fenton in a prepared statement.
