Jamba launching 'Simpsons' D2C content
Mobile content developer and distributor Jamba is preparing to launch a direct-to-consumer campaign spotlighting the upcoming feature film based on the long-running animated prime-time comedy "The Simpsons."Â ME: Mobile Entertainment reports that Jamba--like "The Simpsons'" parent network Fox a property of media conglomerate News Corp--will roll out exclusive "Simpsons" content including made-for-mobile voicetones, ringtones and wallpapers via its Jamster.com portal as well as the soon-to-launch TheSimpsonsMobile.com; the service, dubbed The Yellow Plan, offers consumers six downloads at $9.99 per month.
"The way we're going to bring 'The Simpsons' content to market in the U.S. is an industry first, but one that we're quite confident about," Jamba COO Lee Fenton told ME. "The Yellow Plan is a huge moment for the U.S. D2C content market and it's also a rare example of a standalone content offering based around a single entertainment brand."
