Jamba reorganizes following News Corp. deal

Tools

Two weeks after parent firm News Corp. assumed full ownership of Jamba by acquiring network infrastructure services provider VeriSign's minority stake for $200 million, the mobile entertainment distribution company announced it will reorganize its business in an effort to better leverage the Fox brand and assets. A new organization, Fox Mobile Group, will now oversee three distinct operating business units: The Fox Mobile Distribution division will assume responsibility for global distribution of mobile content via various consumer brands, Fox Mobile Entertainment will license content on behalf of Fox Entertainment Group to third parties for mobile delivery and distribution, and the new Fox Mobile Studios unit will spearhead development of original mobile content. Jamba (or Jamster, as the firm is branded in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Russia and the Asia-Pacific region) will operate as part of the new Fox Mobile Distribution unit.

Mauro Montanaro, named CEO of Jamba in January 2008, will lead the new Fox Mobile Group; Kaj Hagros, who joined the firm as COO in July 2008, will oversee development and execution of product, technology and content strategies for Fox Mobile Distribution's consumer brands. In addition, Giovanni Montesanti will join the company in November as chief marketing officer.
