Japanese mobile web traffic spikes after earthquake
Mobile web traffic surged across Japan in the hours after March 11's earthquake and subsequent tsunami, reports digital research firm comScore. The firm notes that mobile media consumption spiked as citizens left without access to desktop computers turned to their phones to obtain information and communicate with loved ones. ComScore adds that even prior to the disasters now afflicting the country, Japan leads all nations in mobile media consumption, with 75 percent of mobile subscribers accessing connected media.
