Jobs confirms no iPhone tethering for iPad

Tools

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has stated the computing giant's forthcoming iPad tablet device will not be able to connect to the web via tethering to the iPhone. Jobs confirmed the policy by email in response to a query from a Swedish consumer, who wrote "Will the WiFi-only version somehow support tethering thru my iPhone? Two devices, based on the same OS, with already built-in technology to share one data plan suggests a secondary contract could possibly be redundant... The iPad sits well between my MacBook Pro and my iPhone, I was hoping the three of them could interact as seamless as possible."

Jobs' emailed reply, sent from his own iPhone: "No." That's succinct.
