LG, YouTube partner for video handsets

Tools

Electronics giant LG announced an agreement to create a line of video-enabled handsets in partnership with user-generated content aggregator YouTube. LG said the handsets will boast a new user interface enabling consumers to efficiently access and upload video content to YouTube.com. The devices will be available worldwide by the end of 2007.

"This new service will connect people like never before. For the first time, LG customers will be able to film, upload and view videos on YouTube using their mobile phone just as they would be able to from their home computer," said LG president and CEO Dr. Skott Ahn. "With this agreement, LG is continuing to drive forward wireless Internet services as well as consolidate its technology leadership in the mobile industry."

In March, LG announced a deal to pre-install YouTube parent company Google's search and mapping services on handsets including the recent LG-KS10.
