Limbo merges with Brightkite
Mobile entertainment community Limbo is acquiring location-based social networking applications provider Brightkite in a nearly all-stock transaction. The total value of the deal was not disclosed. TechCrunch reports that the combined company will operate under the Brightkite brand, with Limbo CEO Jonathan Linner remaining at the helm and Brightkite founders Martin May and Brady Becker taking over product management and design duties.
TechCrunch adds that in January 2009, Limbo was the beneficiary of a previously undisclosed $9 million financing round led by Nexit Ventures. Existing investors Azure Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and New Enterprise Associates also participated.
