Loopt ties into Facebook Connect

Social-mapping and communication service Loopt announced its integration with the Facebook Connect platform to enable users to connect their Facebook identity, contacts and privacy settings to the Loopt network. According to Loopt, Facebook Connect integration enables users to share and discover recommendations for nearby businesses, add location awareness to their Facebook feeds (complete with alerts when their contacts are nearby) and connect with Facebook friends both on and offline. The Facebook-enhanced Loopt capabilities will debut later this summer via iPhone's App Store--from there, the features will gradually roll out on the BlackBerry platform and across feature phones from Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and Boost Mobile.
