Macrovision acquires ThoughtWorthy Media
Copy-protection and rights-management solutions provider Macrovision announced its acquisition of certain website and technology assets from ThoughtWorthy Media, snapping up a platform enabling TV viewers to identify, research and purchase online any music, products and advertising they view on television. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed; Gemstar-TV Guide International, acquired by Macrovision for $2.8 billion late last year, initially entered into and executed the ThoughtWorthy transaction. Macrovision said it plans to make use of the ThoughtWorthy metadata technology across multiple platforms including online and mobile.
