MapQuest charts new mobile services

Tools

Even more from CTIA: Named the most sought-after Web destination on mobile devices in a recent Strategy Analytics report, MapQuest announced a series of upgrades to its Send to Cell service, enabling users to create driving directions and maps on their PCs and send them to their handsets for free by means of a text message including a URL link. According to Mapquest, the maps and directions are optimized to accommodate mobile screen sizes and feature pan and zoom functions.

"We are making it even easier for consumers to take the MapQuest desktop experience with them on their mobile phones at no charge," said MapQuest director of wireless Alan Beiagi in a prepared statement. "This is part of MapQuest's continued drive to broaden its capabilities by integrating its desktop service with wireless offerings." - Jason
