MasterCard launches MoneySend for BlackBerry
Financial services giant MasterCard expanded its MoneySend person-to-person cash transfer solution to Research In Motion's (NASDAQ:RIMM) BlackBerry platform. The free application, available for download via the BlackBerry App World storefront, enables consumers to send, pay or request funds, accept credit or debit card payments, pay for goods and services, and manage transaction histories--according to MasterCard, users can oversee and trigger exchanges from within the MoneySend app, and personal and financial information is never stored on their device.
MasterCard introduced MoneySend for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and iPad in June 2010. Earlier this year, the company also announced plans to introduce open Application Programming Interfaces enabling third-party and independent software developers to build e-commerce and m-commerce solutions based on previously proprietary payments and data services.
