MEF: EU's TV regulation needs clarifications

The Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) has raised concerns with the EU's plan to regulate new forms of television in its Television without Frontiers initiative: Primarily, the MEF is concerned with the distinction the EU makes between linear (traditional broadcasting) and non-linear (on-demand) services. Currently, traditional broadcasting is subject to tougher regulation, but the MEF says the two will be combined through some mobile offerings and wants the EU to clarify its definitions and take a closer look at the issue. Of course, it all comes down to the bottom-line: The MEF is afraid that financial pressure from this regulation will curb investment.
