Metric: $5B Indian m-entertainment biz by '08
According to telecom experts at the Value Added Services (VAS) conference in New Delhi, the mobile entertainment market in India is set to reach $5 billion within the next two years. Attendees suggested a few ways to capitalize on the trend: Indian carrier BSNL's director of finance S. D. Saxena advised content providers to look into "cultural marketing," which includes providing matrimonial service, religious chants and the like on the mobile platform. Qualcomm's regional president Kanwalinder Singh predicted that contextual mobile advertising, which refers to embedding a marketing message within mobile content, would become a moneymaker among value added services.
