Metric: Puzzle games sell best on mobile

Tools

The NPD Group has issued its list of top-selling mobile games for August of this year. The top five, in order, are Tetris, Bejeweled, Tetris Deluxe, Pac-Man and Diner Dash. The group found teens aged 13-17 are most likely to download a game if given a free demo first, young adults aged 18-24 cite the game title as their most important criteria, while adults aged 25-34 look for a positive review before buying. Anyone older than 35 cites price, which is kind of strange.

Puzzle games are the top-selling category, at 35 percent, followed by sports games at 13 percent, action games at 12 percent, card/casino games at 12 percent and arcade games at 7 percent.
