Microsoft adds turn-by-turn navigation to Bing Maps

Tools

Microsoft announced the addition of turn-by-turn navigation to its Bing Maps service for Windows 6.x phones available from AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile USA. Based on Microsoft's TellMe unit's voice applications technology, the solution offers a new "Navigate" button alongside Bing driving directions--by selecting the option, Bing calculates the travel route and guides drivers along the way, offering their choice between the shortest or fastest route as well as tips for avoiding traffic, toll information and upcoming turn alerts. In addition, Microsoft redesigned the Bing app homepage, promising users more efficient access to common searches like Movies and Traffic.
