Microsoft brings Bing search to Apple's iPad
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) unveiled a new version its Bing search engine optimized for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad tablet, promising an experience optimized for the device's touchscreen interface.
According to Microsoft, Bing for iPad users can quickly browse through news, movies, Bing homepage images, local business listings and more with the swipe of a finger. The app also includes the exclusive Trends feature, which spotlights subjects other consumers are investigating--in addition, users can tap on each Trends topic to discover more about the subject and the factors behind its current popularity.
Bing for iPad features autosuggest tools to help users refine searches based on previous queries--when users are looking for data on a popular topic, the solution provides the most relevant answer up top, complete with quick links to further accelerate the search process. Bing for iPad also offers multiple map views (road, aerial and bird's eye), turn-by-turn directions, real-time transit information and other location-enabled solutions like MSN Weather updates and forecasts.
