Microsoft extends Bing search engine to mobile
Microsoft launched a mobile edition of its new search engine Bing, which the software giant announced last week as the successor to its Live
Search solution. Users can access Bing for mobile by typing m.bing.com into their handset's web browser or by visiting the Microsoft website and entering their phone number to receive a text link to the service--once there, consumers can enter and save their location to discover nearby shops and restaurants, complete with ratings, reviews, hours and directions, as well as get updated weather forecasts, movie showtimes product price searches. Bing for mobile also offers interactive maps with turn-by-turn driving directions and current traffic conditions, as well as point-to-point walking directions--in addition, users can create a mobile dashboard with stock, traffic, weather and movie information.
Bing for mobile is now available for all Windows Mobile, Sidekick, BlackBerry and other web-enabled phones. Microsoft adds that a custom edition of the service is available for iPhone users.
